I was quite sad to hear Thatcher has dementia now. I mean she's been pretty evil and the whole Belgrano thing was so morally bankrupt it's hard to credit BUT dementia is a really grim way to go.

True, but those communities that were completely scarred by the end of industry, the problem is they said about the brave new world of technolgy and then just left these places to rot, she might be a person but her and her government and governments after forgot about these people and they continue to forget about these people.

All resulting in people like James Purnell and David Cameron, the mass media and middle England all morally bankrupt in their silly rhetorical tags, while people live in the old communities probably as close as ever but they have problems and you watch certain programmes and look around and the issue remains that these people understand the communities far better than any person in power, any person away from the area. Middle England can tut all they like about youth centres and youth schemes but it's without doubt the best place to start.

My 2 cents on the "ecomonic revolution" which left masses behind when poverty i just hope the "Social Revolution" won't be as everlasting in it's scars as the previous one, it's terrible mental illness but well i'm sure the economic revolution dealt some on to others.

I'd argue that Thatcher was pretty demented all along.

it was outside the exclusion zone and heading away from it? there's no way that in that particular incident the UK weren't categorically 'the bad guys', killing 323 men who did not represent any direct threat for pure political capital. the entire Falklands War is one of the most disgustingly unneccesary conflicts of modern times, the only people who benefitted were Thatcher and Galtieri, both rallying moderates around them with 'our boys' propaganda and both causing severe injury to thousands of their own civilians at great expense to both countries over a near-irrelevant territory.
