S. Darko

Sequel to Donnie Darko, his little brat of a sister and her mate go on a road trip and start having visions. No-one from the original film apart from the actress who played Samantha connected with it. Might wait for the DVD of this one, if Richard Kelly was connected then I'd probably make the effort to see it in the cinema. What does everyone else think?

Definitely a cheap, straight-to-DVD sequel made solely to earn the studio a few extra bucks.

yeh, definately looks like that, but i get the feeling that it'll get a cinema release. it's been long enough since Donnie that they can get away with it, and they'll be banking on the audience who picked donnie up on DVD not wanting to miss this.

they'll definately play down the fact that the writer and director of donnie isn't attached though

all of you need to watch 'American Psycho 2'. the connection to the original? the protagonist, a college girl studying criminology, murders Patrick Bateman as a child when he, a high-flying banker, IS BABYSITTING HER WHILE WEARING A FACEMASK TO CONCEAL HIS IDENTITY (i.e they couldn't afford Bale). Nearly as funny as the original but purely on trainwreck factor

You forgot to mention William Shatner being in it!

See also: Bring it on 2-4, Behind Enemy Lines 2: Axis of Evil Wild Things 2 and 3, The Butterfly Effect 2, Walking Tall 2 and 3 and so on. Yes, you don't need to be a good movie to get a quickie cash-in sequel.

Still haven't watched Donnie Darko. I've got it on video but never had the time yet...

Apparently there are forums dedicated to Donnie Darko where all they do is try to figure out what the hell is going on...

a couple of things...

Lost Boys 2 is an awesome sequel, mostly due to Corey Feldman.

and

S.Darko will be an awesome sequel as it has John Hawkes in it. John Hawkes single handedly turns an average film into something of great beauty.

oh jesus, what happens in the sequels? I thought the original (well, the first half of it) was a neat little satire of Heinlein and militarism in general, that went over loads of peoples heads because GUNS! TITS! MONSTERS!
