The Fleece is awesome! So intimate. Altho I imagine it's less awesome if you're stuck behind one of those stupid poles... however I was right up against the stage thanks to a guy who recognised me off Youtube and allowed me to squeeze onto the front row
Actually It's Darkness is good but Roddy hates it. Hence, they no longer play it live.

Re: The Idlewild Thread.
Here are a few pics that I took the only time I was able to see them back in 2005.

I think I remember Roddy saying in a blog post a few days after the show that if and when the tour the states that they would probably skip the midwest because of poor turn out.

Idlewild are in my top 10 bands ever.
Someone just needs to hide Roddy's Garth Brooks CD and give him a Smiths one.
Jed
pretty please

The Koko is a club in Camden, London. The Fleece is (or was when i went there years ago) a pub in Bristol. Alix would know more being from there. Alix, is it still The Fleece and Firkin? Do they still sell Dogbolter?Liz wrote:Stu wrote:Punk Girl wrote:Awesome! I love the Fleece....Ash did a Glasto warm-up there a few years back...gutted I missed it![]()

I believe it's just called 'The Fleece' now. I don't know if they sell Dogbolter! What is it?

Re: The Idlewild Thread.
Dogbolter is a beer that the Firkin pubs sold. There were loads of these pubs in London. And each one started with the letter F. ie Fox and Firkin, Flounder and Firkin etc. They were fantastic traditional style pubs always with a piano. Bare wood floors. Old geezers with amazing stories to tell. And they brewed their own beer, one of them had a micro brewery in the cellar and you could see the beer being brewed. Im gonna look it up now, see if company still going. Bet it got bought out by a big company.

Yeah there was another Firkin in Bristol too but someone got murdered there and it closed down. Shame really...it was one of the few 'proper' pubs in the centre of town.
